Consultations
Dr. Kokan sees patients for a very wide range of Musculoskeletal conditions, and currently tries to limit office consultations to conditions affecting the Shoulder, Hip, and Knee due to available time during the week to see patients and to be consistent with his elective surgical practice.
Injections
Some painful conditions caused by soft tissue inflammation or arthritis can be helped by injection of certain substances.
- Corticosteroids – can offer temporary relief to some types of bursitis/tendonitis, or arthritis.
- Hyaluronic Acid – used primarily in the knee joint, this can help you if you have mild or moderately advanced arthritis.
- Platelet Rich Plasma – this can help with some painful soft tissue or joint conditions. Dr. Kokan does not provide this in his office but can send you to a local provider who does if it is felt to be an option

Emergency Surgery
Dr. Kokan will treat patients with orthopaedic trauma on the days that he is scheduled to be on call at Burnaby Hospital. If you were seen and or treated by Dr. Kokan at Burnaby Hospital, then you must call his Hastings Street office to arrange for follow up.
Medical Legal
Dr. Kokan has an interest in providing Independent Medical Examination(s) (IME). He does so for both plaintiff and defence. Dr. Kokan has a reputation for utilizing sound clinical principles along with objective evidence to give an evidence based opinion.
